12.12.2019

Within the framework of the POCTEP project "Sherpa do Mar", led by REDE, a working day was held in the UPTEC-Mar building, in the port of Leixões (Matosinhos), which was attended by agents related to entrepreneurship and / or the marine-maritime sector, in addition to the partners participating in the project.

The meeting was opened by the Director for Business Development of UPTEC, Maria Oliveira, and the director of Campus del Mar and the CIM, Daniel Rey. The purpose of the workshop was to continue the debate started in Vigo on November 28 about the challenges and needs of this sector in the field of entrepreneurship. To do this, Andrea Ogando, member of REDE, disseminated among the attendees the objectives and activities that will be developed throughout the Sherpa do Mar project. Subsequently, from the perspective of the North of Portugal, André Novas of the Portuguese Society of Innovação (SPi) presented the results of the Diagnosis of the marine-maritime sector and finally, Alberte Román from Campus do Mar was in charge of presenting the characterization of existing initiatives aimed at promoting new business projects.

In a second part of the day, a dynamic of debate and co-creation took place in which all attendees participated. Based on the results of the Workshop held in Vigo, the challenges and opportunities detected were explored in depth to conclude with a series of desirable proposals in the field of entrepreneurship, related to issues such as attracting funding, retention and attraction of talent, simplification of procedures, specialization in emerging sectors or monitoring of activity in the sector, among others.
