Sherpa do Mar has presented the 12 projects in the marine-maritime sector that will be accelerated through the Sherpa Journeys program during an online event, which was attended by David Regades, delegate of the Vigo Free Zone (CZFV), as well as others representatives of the entity, the REDE group of the University of Vigo and entrepreneurs and mentors.

During the conference, held yesterday at the CZFV headquarters, the twelve initiatives detailed their proposals, which offer solutions with high added value to real needs in the marine-maritime field.

The MytUniSex, ActiveAlgae, BIMA, SUBGO, ValBioSea, Fish & Food Technology, Sailing For Science, Container Over Board system, Blue Bioprana, ABZU Maritime Platform, Basemar and KERSSHIP projects cover diverse sectors, such as aquaculture, port, canning or tourism and apply cutting-edge technologies to challenges such as digitization, the sustainable use of resources, security, ecotourism or food traceability.

The event was attended by the delegate of the Vigo Free Zone, David Regades, as well as the director and technician of Economic Promotion of the institution, Rosa Eguizábal and Natalia Alvariño respectively, and the coordinator of the REDE research group of the University of Vigo, Xosé H. Vázquez, and the coordinator of the Sherpa do Mar project, Andrea Ogando.

Personalized mentoring

As part of the program, the projects will receive comprehensive support and scientific-technical advice for 14 months, during which they will have mentoring, training, networking sessions, as well as services and technical means to consolidate their development and growth. They will be accompanied by an agent specialized in promoting entrepreneurship and technology transfer.

The objective of Sherpa do Mar is thus to create a cross-border ecosystem of innovative entrepreneurship in the marine-maritime field and in the blue economy, which favors the generation of employment, synergies and business competitiveness.

Sherpa Journeys is led by the REDE group of the University of Vigo and has the participation of Campus do Mar and the R&D Office of the University of Vigo, the Vigo Free Zone Consortium, the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) and the universities of Santiago and A Coruña. On the part of Portugal, the Asprela Technology Transfer Association (UPTEC), the University of Porto, the Interdisciplinary Center for Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR) and the Forum Oceano-Associacão da Economia do Mar participate.
It is part of the Sherpa do Mar project, part of the INTERREG V-A Spain-Portugal Cross-Border Cooperation Program (POCTEP) 2014-2020, co-financed 75% by ERDF funds.
