THE I SHERPA DO MAR UNIVERSITY-BUSINESS MEETING WILL BRING TOGETHER LEADING EXPERTS FROM THE MARITIME-MARINE SECTOR TO ADDRESS THE FUTURE OF THE SECTOR

It will take place from June 28 to 30 via streaming and will deal with the latest news in terms of innovation and entrepreneurship in infrastructures, ports and marine renewable energies

Its objective is to put the business fabric and the scientific community of Galicia and the north of Portugal in contact to create synergies and new job and business opportunities

It will host networking meetings in collaboration with the largest European business support network in terms of innovation, competitiveness and internationalization

Sherpa do Mar will celebrate from June 28 to 30 the I University-Company Meeting of the three foreseen in its annual program and which will bring together leading experts from the maritime-marine field to address the latest news in terms of innovation and entrepreneurship in infrastructures, ports and marine renewable energies.

The event, of an online nature, will have a central day, which will take place on the 29th and in which issues that directly affect the future of the sector will be discussed, such as the digitization of ports, maritime transport, logistics platforms or the efficiency and energy policy - wave energy, offshore wind, offshore biomass, oil and offshore gas… -. It will also be complemented by bilateral networking meetings, organized in collaboration with the Enterprise Europe Network, the largest European business support network in terms of innovation, competitiveness and internationalization, during the three days that the meeting will last.

The objective of this cycle of Sherpa do Mar meetings is to promote the transfer of knowledge and promote a network of contacts between the business fabric of the marine-maritime sector and the research community of Galicia and northern Portugal, which allows creating synergies and new opportunities work and business.

The rector of the University of Vigo, Manuel Reigosa, and the professor of Business Organization at ECOBAS-Uvigo and principal investigator of Sherpa do Mar, Xosé H. Vázquez, will be in charge of opening the central act on Tuesday 29, which will take place from 10 a.m. and throughout the morning. Next, Xoán Martínez, CEO of the logistics operator Kaleido Ideas & Logistics, will speak about success stories of open innovation and the sea and the future that is to come. Yolanda Falcón, director of Investee Management at Xesgalicia SGEIC, will take over. She will talk about “Venture capital at the service of entrepreneurs”. Fabio Represas, economist and project manager of Magallanes, will focus his participation on the success stories achieved, as part of the company, in the development of projects and international trade in Asia and Europe, with his presentation "Unblocking the future of renewable energies ”. Enrique Mallón, Secretary General of Asime, who will offer a “Vision of the offshore industry in Galicia and its value chain” will close the speeches.

The day will close with a pitch on some of the projects that are currently being accelerated in the Sherpa do Mar entrepreneurship support program, Sherpa do Mar, and whose evolution is more advanced. This is the case of Basemar, focused on the manufacture and commercialization of beacons with ecological anchoring for maritime signage and for shellfish farming parks; Kersship, whose objective is the restructuring and optimization of the current bow thrusters of ships, allowing the generation of renewable energy, reducing costs and maintenance and minimizing collision risks. COBS, focused on the development of an alert, identification, monitoring and flotation system for maritime containers; BIMA, aimed at the creation of technological solutions based on GIS; and ABZU, a port operations platform based on blockchain technology.

Sherpa do Mar is a project integrated in the INTERREG VA Spain-Portugal Cross-Border Cooperation Program (POCTEP) 2014-2020, co-financed 75% by ERDF funds, whose purpose is to launch a cross-border network of entrepreneurship in the marine field- maritime and the blue economy, which favors the generation of employment and the increase of business competitiveness through the promotion of technology-based companies.
